Miami Art Week is seeking a dynamic and engaging Artist Video Interviewer to join our creative team. This role involves conducting insightful video interviews with Miami Art Week artists, allowing them to share their stories, creative processes, inspirations, and challenges. The ideal candidate is passionate about art, skilled in interviewing, and has a keen understanding of what makes an artist's journey compelling for viewers.
The Artist Video Interviewer will work closely with our video production and content teams to create engaging video content for various platforms, including social media, websites, and marketing campaigns. The ideal candidate is confident on camera, has excellent communication and content creation skills, and is capable of bringing out the best in interviewees, creating informative and captivating content for our audience. This role will be on a short-term, Contract/Freelance basis.
Event/Interview Locations:
🔸Miami Art Week Kickoff Party at the Coral Gables Museum on Monday Dec 2, 2024 from 6-9 PM. (Event location is 285 Aragon Ave, Coral Gables, FL 33134.)
🔸Miami Art Week Wynwood Pop-Up Show & photoMIAMI Fair on Saturday and Sunday Dec 7 & 8, 2024. Sat/Sun: 10 AM to 9 PM. (Event location is 2300 N Miami Ave, Miami, FL 33127.)
Responsibilities
Conduct video interviews with artists in various fields.
Research and prepare interview questions tailored to each artist's background, style, and current projects.
Facilitate engaging and authentic conversations that allow artists to share their unique stories and insights.
Collaborate with the production team to ensure high-quality video and audio recordings.
Guide artists on set to create a comfortable and conversational atmosphere.
Work closely with editors and producers to ensure the final video content aligns with the Miami Art Week brand voice and vision.
Adapt interviews for different formats and platforms (full-length videos, short clips, live events, etc.).
Stay updated on trends in the art world and incorporate relevant themes or topics into interviews.
Travel to Miami Art Week on-site interviews at studios, galleries and events as needed.
Requirements
Experience: Proven experience in interviewing, journalism, or content creation, preferably with a focus on the arts.
Knowledge of Art: Strong understanding of the art world, including various mediums, styles, and contemporary issues in the arts.
Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills; the ability to build rapport with artists quickly.
Creative Eye: Aesthetic sensibility and understanding of visual composition, lighting, and camera presence for on-camera work.
Adaptability: Ability to adjust to different interview formats, from informal conversations to structured Q&A.
Tech Savvy: Basic familiarity with video production and equipment, or willingness to learn.
Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including videographers, editors, and social media managers.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, art history, media studies, or a related field.
Background in or strong personal passion for art and creative industries.
Video editing or multimedia skills are a plus.
