"Make visible what, without you, might never be seen." - Robert Bresson
Hi! My name is Beth Leitzke. I was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL. After living in South Florida for a little while, I have recently moved back home with my daughter and our dog. I went to high school at St. Johns Country Day School where I was a part of the yearbook staff. From there I went on to the University of Miami and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communications. I have had my photography published in the Clay Today newspaper and have been a part of Who’s Who. I have helped local non-profit organizations with event photography and provided my photography services to local restaurants. I am a member of both the Professional Photographers of America as well as the Jacksonville Professional Photographers Guild.
I have always loved how photographs can evoke an emotion and help us see things in a way we might not have seen them before. I have always loved the details; the things you would never see if it were not for photography allowing us to get that close. This desire to always get closer is what led me to macro photography. This is where I found my niche. My macro photography presents the subjects in a beautifully unexpected way. With isolated subjects that pop off the background in my flower photography and minor details of a classic car that might otherwise get overlooked, I strive to create images that make you feel more than they make you see.
Nostalgia
Whether it’s a sound or a smell, a toy or a TV show, there is always something that can instantly transport us back to our childhood. This “Nostalgia” series is meant to do just that, acting as a time machine of sorts. I want you to spend some time with these photographs while they take you on a trip down memory lane.
I was inspired by items that remind me of my childhood in some way. So I set out on a journey to collect anything that might take you back to the days of running around outside with friends or sitting on the floor with your bowl of cereal watching Saturday morning cartoons or even all of the hours spent going to practices, games, and recitals.
I photograph the subject against a black background to make sure it stands out and remains the focus of the image. My use of macro style photography and unique angles allows me to not only show off the intricate details of the subject, but to show off those details in distinctive ways.
