“Jakob Kirchmayr’s visual language is never blatantly obvious or clear-cut, much is left in limbo; he allows figurative elements to freely transition into abstract ones, plays with different levels of meaning.

The drawings take their vibrancy from their dynamism, from spontaneous lines realized with great physical application. One can virtually witness the artist developing his ideas, the struggle on the paper surface, the scenes slowly taking shape.

The images are created directly on paper without preliminary sketches – without photographic models or other auxiliary tools. A conception of the world beyond our virtual media reality. A graphic work that with its confident casualness and mastery is able to display exceptional power and freshness. Kirchmayr provokes and irritates, he does not pander to the viewers but demands a lot of them. In return, however, they are richly rewarded.”
