About the Artist
ARTIST STATEMENT-STACY DAUGHERTY/ARTOGRAPHY Immersing myself in nature opens opportunities for self-reflection, renewal, and revelation. Nature offers an abundance of subject matter that continually inspires and fuels my creative process. Through abstract forms found in organic elements, I explore the intersection of the physical and spiritual realms and how they coexist. Using a macro lens, I magnify the subjects of my photography, presenting them larger than life and revealing intricate details, textures, and movements. My artistic process involves imagining myself as a tiny observer, sitting on the flower, feather, or natural object I am photographing. I ask myself: How would the world appear from this vantage point? How would it feel? This shift in perspective allows me to become fully enveloped by the unfolding scene, creating a meditative state in which time slows. In this space, I aim to capture the essence and energy of the subject as it communicates through the lens. Each piece of artwork is born from the feelings, energy, and subtle messages I experience both during the shoot and in post-processing. Titles and final presentations are a reflection of this intuitive process. In this collection, I present a singular peacock feather in three facets. By stripping away the color typically associated with this vibrant bird, I make a statement about seeing beyond illusion and distraction. It’s an invitation to perceive things—and people—as they truly are, encouraging authenticity and openness.
