Bio
Nicole Charre is a French-American photographer from Miami, Florida. She is on a quest to redefine everyday objects and change our understanding of space and environment. She uses abstraction to refocus our attention in this digital age. She is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design with a B.F.A. in Art History.

Artist Statement
My photography primarily revolves around the theme of slow living, focusing on a shift in our perspective and relationship with or around objects that would otherwise be perceived as insignificant. In this way, I try to reframe our collective ideas of home and the notion of the mundane. Photos of objects around us have been manipulated and veiled as unrecognizable, which have been motivated by my current generation’s constant fear of missing out and the fact that we are overstimulated by the technology that surrounds us. By taking these photos that more closely resemble paintings, I hope to distract people from their digital environment and allow them to focus on their immediate environment. Most of my work is inspired by Abstract Expressionism, including the late field paintings of Mark Rothko.
