Artist Statement
I want to convey a “state of possibility” , where everything in the atmosphere pulsates with life, on the verge of movement and change. My abstract art paintings are about the forces of energy that surround us that can cause expected and unexpected outcomes. My process is influenced by the connection of the movement and flow of energy from music through to the canvas, how motion affects the outcome is a continuing source of gratification and fascination. I work with every color that exists and most recently with neutrals, black and white. It astounds me how just the simplicity of the two can connect and create such a strong power of motion and emotion.
In my own art practice I love to portray the simplicity of colors and how they flow and blend to create what we see in our everyday life. The speed and direction of the movement of brush strokes determine the difference in the outcome of the finished image and allowing the freedom of expression through the movement. I don’t title most of my abstract work for the purpose of allowing the viewers to determine their own personal connection and meaning otherwise. As an artist, I want to create the body of work and leave it to the world to draw their own conclusion, I create to bring a sense of normality and beauty to the viewer and the world.
