About the Artist
SAO PAULO | BRAZIL | 1979
Entrepreneur. Visual artist from Sao Paulo, Brazil.
Recognized as one of the 100 most innovative people and among the 20 most influential people in Latin America in terms of his work in the corporate market, Körner creates provocations through the physical installations he photographs, transforming that moment into a piece of design and reflection of a moment in humanity.
Go beyond. With authorial work and his own style, he tells stories. Those who live, others lived or who we currently live. To tell stories, we need to think and reflect on what we want to say or how we want to show it.
Its trademark is this shape below a spotlight of what you see, almost like hands handing over a moment for people to stop for just a second and look. Use your skills and views of the world to make art. Art that transgresses, discusses and reflects personal and global themes.
Pure design and plasticity, infinite moments.
Körner's works were acquired for private collections in Brazil, in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
He participated in exhibitions in Brazil and abroad: Gasometer Liechtenstein at the 8th Salão de Arte Brasileira in 2023 and Oceanos Exhibition at A Galeria, Centro Cultural Mestre Assis in Embu das Artes and Centro Cultural Santo Amaro São Paulo.
"My artistic work is an attempt to explore the layers of complex and profound issues in society through visual compositions and contemplative design to enrich understanding and reflection on the topics that impact us." by Alex Körner

About the artwork
The painting "Commodities War" presents a powerful visual representation of a contemporary geopolitical conflict, the war between Ukraine and Russia. Through a complex and symbolic composition, it aims to highlight the multiple layers and implications of this conflict that extend beyond the borders of the two countries involved.
The choice to depict a tank advancing through cotton fields evokes a sense of destruction and suffering caused by the war, humanizing the impact of the conflict. The massacre suggested in this scene is not limited to the people directly involved but serves as a critique of the devastation that affects all of humanity.
The inclusion of elements such as wheat, cotton, oil, gas, copper, and gold as integral parts of the composition emphasizes the global impact of the war on the commodities that sustain our society. The choice of the colors blue and yellow, which can be associated with the suffering of the affected country, serves as a reminder that we are all affected by conflicts like these, regardless of our geographical location.
The use of art as a means of social awareness and political critique is evident in this painting. It reminds us of the collective responsibility we have to seek peaceful solutions to conflicts and how contemporary wars have a broad and lasting impact on our interconnected world. It is a call to reflection and action, an artistic expression that invites us to be not mere spectators but agents of change.
